Why FLD

What makes the difference

Every contractor says "quality and reliability". Here is the difference you can verify before you sign anything.

No subcontractors — ever

Every FLD engineer is directly employed. You get the same team on site from survey to sign-off. No agency workers, no subcontracting the solar to a third party.

Paul surveys every job above £20 k

The director attends every commercial site survey personally. You speak to the decision-maker on day one, not a salesperson who hands off to an install team.

Single NICEIC sign-off on the full scope

One NICEIC Approved Contractor number covers everything: solar PV, battery storage, EV chargers, electrical works and testing. No scope-splitting, no compliance gaps.

Finance options

Three routes to solar ownership

Whether you want zero capital outlay, the fastest payback period or predictable monthly payments, we can structure a commercial solar project to match your budget.

£0 upfront
Zero upfront cost

Commercial Solar PPA

A Power Purchase Agreement lets your business install solar with no capital outlay. We fund the system and you buy the electricity it generates at a fixed, RPI-indexed unit rate that is lower than your grid tariff. Typical terms are 10 to 25 years, with a buy-out option at the end.

4 yr payback
Buy outright, own from day one

Self-Finance Contract

Purchase the system outright and claim 100% first-year Annual Investment Allowance relief under current rules. Post-tax payback is typically 2.5 to 4 years for commercial rooftop solar in South Wales.

7 yr spread
Spread payments over 3 to 7 years

Asset Finance

Hire purchase or lease structures for businesses that want ownership without a one-off capital hit. We work with established UK asset-finance lenders.

All finance options subject to credit assessment. Speak to Paul to find the best structure for your project.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Yes, depending on organisation type. Welsh SMEs and public bodies can access the Welsh Government Energy Service, Ynni Cymru Capital Grants (approximately £10 m in 2026-27, £25,000 to £1 m per project) and Development Bank of Wales Green Business Loans. Welsh public-sector bodies use Salix Wales Funding Programme rather than the English Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme. Farms may be eligible under Farming Connect. Always check current-year terms before committing.
At 30p/kWh grid electricity, a 100 kWp system generating 95,000 kWh/yr with 70% self-consumption delivers around £24,000 of year-one benefit against c. £85,000 capex, a 3.5-year simple payback. Under Annual Investment Allowance first-year 100% relief, post-tax payback is closer to 2.6 years. South Wales yields 940 to 985 kWh/kWp/year depending on postcode, comfortably enough for commercial solar to be cashflow positive from month one with a PPA.
NICEIC is the UK's most recognised certification body for electrical installers. An NICEIC Approved Contractor has been audited on competence, quality management and BS 7671 compliance. It gives you an insurance-backed warranty on the installation work we sign off, and meets the Competent Person scheme requirements for Building Regulations Part P.

Yes, but selectively. Our base is Swansea and our routine coverage is South Wales SA, CF, NP and LD postcodes. We take on national electrical projects for repeat clients and main contractors where we have existing relationships, such as the Cardiff Crown Courts refurbishment package.
